’His appointment will help ensure continuity, strong governance and continued progress in our collective efforts to protect honest customers and combat fraud,’ says chair

The Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) has appointed Allianz UK’s director of financial crime Ben Fletcher to its board of directors and as the new chair of the General Insurance Fraud Committee (GIFC).

The appointment follows the departure of Margaret Scott from the IFB board and the resignation of Adele Sumner as GIFC chair following her departure from Intact.

Fletcher has served at Allianz in his position since 2022.

Scott Clayton, IFB chair, said: “I am delighted to welcome Fletcher to the IFB board and as chair of the GIFC.

”Fletcher brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the insurance fraud landscape and a long-standing commitment to industry collaboration.

”His appointment will help ensure continuity, strong governance and continued progress in our collective efforts to protect honest customers and combat fraud.”

Impact

Prior to his current role at Allianz, Fletcher served as chief customer officer at the Motor Insurers’ Bureau and director at the IFB.

IFB said that his appointment supports its ”commitment to maintaining strong leadership, collaboration and strategic direction across the industry”.

Fletcher added:I am pleased to be joining the IFB board and taking on the role of chair of the GIFC.

”The insurance industry achieves its greatest impact when it works together and I look forward to supporting the IFB, the GIFC and our members as we continue to strengthen our response to insurance fraud and financial crime.”
