The head of claims will lead a new claims executive team

Insurer Tokio Marine Kiln has appointed a new head of claims.

Tobin Ryan, previously head of property and special lines claims at TMK takes over from Nick Sinfield, who is retiring. He will head a newly created claims executive team.

Ryan joined TMK in 2012 from Beazley and has over 30 years of London market experience.

TMK said Ryan is ”a specialist in managing large and complex losses”.

Sinfield spent more than 30 years in the insurance industry, joining TMK in 2015.

Commenting on Ryan’s appointment and Sinfield’s retirement, TMK deputy chief executive Nick Hutton-Penman said the company was ”excited to welcome Tobin to his new role and look forward to the team’s continued success under his leadership”.

”Nick retires from TMK leaving the claims team in an exceptionally strong position and with significant depth of talent in the management team who I am confident will take the claims department forward.

Meanwhile, Ryan said he was “honoured” to be TMK’s head of claims.

”TMK is entering very exciting times and I am delighted to be part of a company with such a strong business strategy and vision for the future”, he said, adding that the business remains ”committed to providing an outstanding claims service and building strong and enduring relationships with our brokers and clients”.

Ryan’s executive team comprises:

  • Laura Hollingsworth – promoted to head of claims operations
  • Lee Bennett - promoted to head of a newly formed delegated claims team
  • Patrick Cannon – promoted to head of enterprise risk and casualty claims
  • Victoria Joslin – promoted to head of property, marine and aviation claims

In may TMK appointed Matthew Shaw as its new chief underwriting officer. Shaw joined from Chubb and had been in the industry since the 1980s where he started as a Lloyd’s underwriter.
