The firm says the new appointee will help grow its retail and speciality businesses
Travelers Europe has appointed Andy Brown as its new chief underwriting officer for business insurance.
In his new role, Brown will oversee growth for Travelers Europe’s retail and specialty businesses, which include its syndicate at Lloyd’s.
He joins from insurer Chubb, where he spent the previous 10 years holding several senior leadership positions.
This includes chief underwriting officer for global energy and head of energy for Chubb global markets.
Travelers Europe said that he has “extensive experience in managing product development and setting company strategy for portfolio and cycle management”.
Recent appointments
The appointment follows the retirement of previous chief underwriting officer for business insurance, Heather Batchelor, who had been employed by Travelers Europe for the previous 30 years.

Brown is not the only hire this year, with Travelers Europe appointing Mike Lawton as chief operating officer in February to oversee day-to-day business operations and implementations of company strategy.
“I have seen firsthand how our unique and collaborative culture has guided our business to great success and ensured that we are well-placed to capitalise on the many opportunities we see on the horizon,” Lawton said.
“I’m delighted to be taking on this new role at this exciting time in the company’s growth journey.”

He graduated in 2017 from the University of Manchester with a degree in Geology. He spent the first part of his career working in consulting and tech, spending time at Citibank as a data analyst, before working as an analytics engineer with clients in the retail, technology, manufacturing and financial services sectors.View full Profile
