NIG managing director Phil Bunker has been replaced by Charles Crawford as revealed exclusively by Insurance Times on 4 December 2003.
Bunker will leave in March 2004.
Recently appointed managing director of the intermediary and broker business of newly-formed RBS Insurance, Crawford was formerly an executive director of Churchill Group.
Crawford joined Churchill in 1993 and his responsibilities included underwriting, pricing, technical claims and IT. Prior to joining Churchill, he worked in the personal lines operation of Royal Insurance.
Commenting on his decision, Bunker said: "NIG is a great business with enormous growth prospects. Now that it is part of the larger Royal Bank of Scotland Group of companies it has even greater opportunities available to it. However, for me it felt like the right time for a change. I have been with NIG for 14 years, and managing director for three, so I am ready for a new challenge."
RBS Insurance chief executive Annette Court commented: "We are sorry to be losing Bunker's experience to the group and we wish him well in all he does in the future. However, in Charles Crawford we have someone who has worked closely with NIG over the last four years and who understands the broker market well.
"We are absolutely committed to enhancing our presence within the broker channel. We believe there are some really exciting prospects ahead and Crawford and his team are keen to build on the worthy reputation that NIG already enjoys in this sector."
