NIG has poached a £5m book of commercial motor business from Allianz Cornhill.

Surrey-based broker Sutton Barnard Insurance Brokers will transfer the business with immediate effect to be completed over the next 12 months.

The book of business includes all motor trade sales, service and garage repair business.

NIG's Commercial Schemes and Affinity Groups Manager Simon Henderson said: “NIG is delighted that Sutton Barnard Insurance Brokers have entrusted us with this profitable book of motor trade business.

"The portfolio fits perfectly within NIG's SME profile and assists in strengthening our position in the marketplace.”

Managing director of Sutton Barnard Insurance Brokers Peter Barnard said: “We have had a strong working relationship with NIG for a number of years on other schemes business, so strategically it makes perfect sense placing the business with them."
