The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has declared nine firms to be in default, enabling affected customers to claim compensation through the scheme.
The FSCS said it would encourage any customers who had dealings with the nine firms and lost money as a result to contact it.
The nine firms are:

· Mr Terence Willison and Mr Norris Kilby, formerly trading as Maywill Financial Services, Birmingham B72 1DL
· R E Hutt Independent Financial Advisers Ltd (In liquidation), Coventry CV1 3EH
· Carrington Financial Management Ltd, Nr Warrington WA3 1HP
· Kilbarrons Ltd, Cheshire M33 1TQ
· Nicholson Eastwood & Clark Ltd, Manchester M2 7EP
· John Paul Hatfield trading as Associated Financial Services, Bicester OX6 7AD
· Massow Rainbow Group Ltd, formerly Massow Financial Services Limited (In receivership), London WC2H 9NA
· Melbourne Roberts Insurance Services Ltd, Watford WD1 1NS
