Fa Cup hero Tony Roberts is facing a massive insurance bill, because of his success. The former QPR goalie had to quit professional football after a string of injuries and duly collected his insurance money.

While his body wasn't up to the stresses of professional football, he carried on playing for the amateur side Dagenham. And although the brave Daggers went down at Ipswich in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend, Roberts achieved hero status in the previous round by scoring in the Essex team's victory over Exeter.

Now the Nationwide Conference side has its sights set on promotion to the football league but, rues Roberts, it means he will have to pay back his insurance money if they do go up and he decides to play on.
