What a surprise – the one contestant the Sun newspaper is campaigning to oust from his slot in Channel Four's Big Brother house is an insurance bod – Nick Bateman.

Bateman, formerly junior broker in the global property and casualty department at Willis, has been callously labelled “the most hated man on telly”. It was the Sun wot done it.

But Insurance Times is standing by its man. We want him to win and we are calling on the rest of the industry to vote for him as well.

If you are one of the few people who haven't been watching the controversial but phenomenally succesful show, you're probably unfamiliar with the conniving activities that Bateman has been up to.

Early last Sunday morning, the Sun took the step of hiring a helicopter to drop 80 messages into the Big Brother back garden, reading:

“This is a heartfelt plea from readers of the Sun. For the sake of all the viewers who love Big Brother... Nicholas must go. 47% of Sun readers want him out. We're sick of the sight of him and he bitches about you all behind your backs. Your vote counts.”

Off the record, a Willis insider said: ‘There are a lot of people in the market who would probably go along with what the Sun is saying.”

But Insurance Times is backing Bateman to win the big £70,000. We cannot allow the Sun's interference to go unchallenged. Support our campaign by voting on our website – www.insurancetimes.co.uk – and we will pass on your comments to Channel Four, the Sun and to Bateman.
