Norwich Union IT director Alex Robinson has taken a three-month sabbatical from the company. His deputy, Simon Guest, assumes Robinson's responsibilities.
NU sales and marketing director Bridget McIntyre completed a six-month sabbatical earlier this year. An NU spokesman said that the company thought sabbaticals were a good way of developing the skills of managers who are asked to stand in.
