Two in five people don't give a thought to home security, according to new research published by Norwich Union.
One in four homeowners said that upgrading home security was too expensive.
To help homeowners assess the security of their own homes, Norwich Union has done a deal with Highway Emergency Servives. The Home Doctor consultant undertakes a locks survey, recommends action and provides a quote for the work, if the homeowner wants one.
All customers who take up the offer receive a free spyhole and door chain, valued at £65.
