Oak Underwriting and Authentica Risk Manage-ment have joined forces in an aggressive push to corner the high net worth market.

The new partnership is offering a free appraisal service for buildings and contents worth more than £1.25m, with access to professional valuations of fine art and antiques through independent valuer Gurr Johns.

Tony Lumsden-Cook, chairman of Somerville Under-writing Holdings, which owns Oak, said: "The appraisal service is an aggressive bid to compete with rivals. It is a market leading product."

The appraisal service was added to the company's arsenal of products after a successful three-month trial.

Oak managing director Bob Trott said: "Items are individually coded so we can identify what is at risk."
