Insurance companies have a long way to go before their websites are used on a mass scale for selling and managing insurance policies, new research says.
However, online insurance sites are now much easier to use and have become more customer friendly.
The study of 20 of the UK's leading insurance websites was carried out by financial services market research company PR3 MAPA.
It looked at how well each site performed in terms of providing policy information, requesting a quote and buying insurance online.
Direct Line's site was judged to be the best, with Churchill and Eagle Star in second and third place.
