A new internet company, insurE-com, claims to have developed the first 'open' e-commerce solution for the insurance industry – and it is free to brokers.

The company has created two distinct systems under the insurE-com banner – insur-E.connect for brokers and insur-E.link for insurers.

Insurers pay for a licence for insur-E.link which allows them to provide up-to-date quotes and data to brokers immediately.

Brokers then log onto the internet to access the policy and quotes information that insurers have generated.

The firm claims that the downloading process takes less than six minutes.

InsurE-com is now seeking brokers who wish to test the system alongside their existing software house packages over the coming year.

Managing director Ralph Ehlers said: "We don't want to develop a back office system. We want to create an open platform for everybody."
