Midlands-based broker Perkins Slade has appointed former Aon director Larry Maxted to spearhead its push into the London Market.

Perkins Slade chief executive David Slade said the new office, which is due to open on 30 June, will service the increasing number of UK publicly-listed accounts being won by Perkins Slade and would also improve the company's dealings in the London Market.

"We see London as a highly fertile market for firms of our size," Slade said.

Maxted worked at Aon for 20 years, most recently as director, strategic account development. He will be given an equity stake and will join the Perkins Slade board as development director. Aside from heading up the London office, Maxted will be responsible for overseeing the development of new business in the company's Birmingham and Petersfield offices.
