Personal Insurance Plan has teamed up with Norwich Union and Cornhill to provide a 24-hour household claims assistance service.

PIP will appoint a personal incident manager to handle each claim from start to finish, and will only use approved contractors for any repairs to property.

There is a 24-hour claims line,that will deal with emergency calls immediately.

Customers will still pay the excess of the policy but PIP will settle the claim directly.

PIP claims it can make a saving of up to 40% for a customer by shopping around and bundling several schemes into one plan.

“Customers want to think about their insurance as little as possible. By giving them the freedom to go ahead with replacing items or contracting building work, they will experience as little disruption as possible,” said managing director James Cashmore.
