Companies which are complacent about health and safety in the workplace risk financial ruin and prison sentences, Plexus Law partner Peter James warned.
Increasing numbers of people are reporting minor injuries in the workplace, prompting Plexus to expand its health and safety legal services team from two to six.
James said effective risk management is one effective method of reducing incidents in the workplace, but, “it is also essential that companies call in experts to provide advice and protect the company's interest when problems occur.”
The financial consequences of failing to ensure that these systems are in place can be enormous, both in terms of fines and company reputation, warned James.
