The Policyholders' Protection Board (PPB) has paid out more than £2m to almost 200 Independent Insurance policyholders suffering hardship.
A PPB spokesman admitted the claims processing was “still slow moving”, but said it aimed to process claims in less than ten days.
Early this week, the PPB had processed 178 claims at a cost of £2,320,346.
The spokesman said many of the payouts had been to contractors with employers' liability claims.
