Primary International, the Altrincham-based travel insurer, has told its agents to focus on the European ski market as one sector it thinks will survive the downturn in international travel following the terrorist attacks in the US.
Primary director Tim Berry said: “We believe that, more than ever, families will be focusing on a ski holiday as a chance to escape the various problems that have beset holiday destinations this year.
“Our travel insurance sales are down, in keeping with the rest of our competitors, but our ski insurance sales are bucking the trend.
"Our impression is that holidaymakers are already looking to the new year ahead, as well as displaying more confidence in the safety of travel within Europe, particularly when that travel is to a ski resort.”
Primary said it was offering its agents a net rated insurance policy that allowed them “freedom and flexibility when setting their own price for the product, in order to maximise their commission on each sale”.
