Intelligence database
Specialist consultancy R3 Group has launched READ, a database containing details of more than 7,000 affinity groups.

Information held includes turnover, number of customers and employees, and core market segment.

The database also contains data on UK and European markets. The company claims READ will improve market intelligence and be used to prepare sales and marketing strategies.

Car security rated
Thatcham has launched an updated version of its new car security rating website, www.ncsr.co.uk . Search facilities have been added to cover manufacturer, model and security ratings.

The site enables motorists concerned about vehicle theft to search more than 1,650 vehicle security ratings so they can make informed decisions when buying cars.

The Lexus 430 is the only car that has achieved the double five star rating.

The rating is coveted, although it provides no guarantee the car will not be stolen or broken into.

Manager of Vehicle Electronics at Thatcham, Mark Inman, said: "The motorist can easily access vital and clear information, that until now has been deeply embedded in vehicle specifications and police statistics."

Windscreen validation
Online glass fitter Glasplus has created a website to counter high volume, low value claims.

The website allows auto replacement glass fitters, suppliers and insurance companies to validate claims.

The site, www.glasplus.com , offers a database of motor policies drawn from the UK's major insurance companies.

By simply entering the registration number of the vehicle, the system will validate the claim.

If the vehicle is covered the glass fitter will be provided with details of any excess payable against the claim.

Once validated, the fitter can either bill direct to the insurer or use Glasplus to send an electronic bill on his behalf.
