Young recruits will get full-on-the-job training

Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA), the UK's largest commercial insurer, has announced the launch of a new apprenticeship scheme in its engineering team's consultancy division. Aron Brookes and Ben Robson are the first two NDT & materials testing apprentices to be taken on and join the company with immediate effect.

The scheme will provide the young recruits with full on-the-job training across the loss control portfolio, including radiography and radiographic interpretation, magnetic particle inspection and dye penetrant inspection. They will also be given the opportunity to complement this training at college.

Commenting on the scheme, David Smith, director of construction, power and engineering said: "By launching this apprenticeship scheme and investing in the team, R&SA is demonstrating its commitment to this part of its business and to the training and development of its staff, to ensure the delivery of the highest levels of service to our customers."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
