Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) confirmed it has settled asbestos-related litigation brought by building materials group Cape.
A R&SA spokesman said: "We and Cape have successfully resolved some outstanding issues between us which have been the subject of legal proceedings to the satisfaction of both parties."
The spokesman said the settlement does not have an adverse impact on R&SA's overall asbestos reserve positioning.
R&SA's share price rose 5% today to 61.5p.
