Deejay Accident Repair Centres is to make 24 staff redundant in an effort to reduce costs and retain a competitive position in the market.
Managing director Dave Shepherd said the cut backs were necessary if the company was to provide cost-effective services to insurance companies in what it said was an increasingly competitive market.
Shepherd said in addition to experiencing difficult economic conditions, claims frequency had fallen, as had vehicle values, resulting in a higher incidence of write offs.
Simpler vehicle construction had lowered repair values, added Shepherd.
The majority of redundancies will be at the Broxbourne centre in Hertfordshire.
