Liberty International Underwriters has said one in four brokers believes that the quality of service provided by London-based underwriters deteriorates the further businesses are located from the capital, according to research.

The survey asked over 250 brokers their thoughts on quality of service provided by London underwriters. 25% said that service was compromised in the regions.

54% said this was mainly due to lack of understanding of the needs of regional brokers. 16% said it was due to the London-centric view of some underwriters and 14% believed it was a genuine issues created by distance.

Sean Rocks, chief executive of Liberty International Underwriters said: “It is interesting to learn that many brokers feel that service received by underwriters is compromised in the regions.

"Although many underwriters try to provide a consistent service to all brokers, it is often quite difficult to implement this strategy in practice."
