Zurich's new UK general insurance chief executive Geoff Riddell will conduct a three-month review of the company's structure and operations.

Riddell, previously Zurich's corporate and government business managing director, succeeded Patrick O'Sullivan, who was promoted to Zurich's group finance director.

Riddell will not immediately appoint his own replacement.

"He feels he already has the 2003 strategy in place, so the die has already been cast on what commercial needs to achieve," a spokeswoman said.

"All the same people will continue as they have before, while he reviews all the business operations."

Riddell, who joined Zurich in 2000, chairs the ABI's liability committee and is a member of the ABI's General Insurance Council.

He will report to Zurich UK chief executive Sandy Leitch.
