Chairman remains in post for another 12 months.

Stephen Riley has been reappointed as chairman of the International Underwriting Association.

He will serve another year leading the association to promote and enhance the business environment for international (re)insurance companies in London.

Earlier this year Riley, executive director at Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers, led a comprehensive review of the IUA’s long-term strategic planning. Four key priorities were identified to address the global business demands facing member companies.

Riley said: “The IUA plays an important role within the London Market and at the end of this year will celebrate its tenth anniversary.

“The market has changed considerably over these last ten years and the association has needed to react accordingly. I look forward to another 12 months serving as chairman.”

The IUA’s objectives are to improve the efficiency of doing business in London; to advance the development of market expertise and innovation; to influence public policy and compliance developments; to foster relationships with the broking community and other client-related stakeholders.

Over the next two months the IUA will also be conducting a survey of its member companies to assess their needs from the association. This exercise will be conducted by an independent body and will involve interviews with directors and underwriters.

Riley added: “It is important that we regularly review our member services. The results of this survey will ensure the IUA is in an even better position to continue as a relevant and practical supporter of London Market business."
