Moody's has lifted its outlook rating for the UK sector of Royal & SunAlliance Group from negative to stable.

Moody's said the ratings action had been taken following the group's sale of its UK life insurance businesses to Resolution Life.

In July the ratings agency said it would change the rating on completion of the transaction and in the absence of adverse developments elsewhere.

The change signals substantial improvement to the group's capitalisation on a statutory basis and on the group's internal risk-based capital basis.

Elsewhere, however, ratings are refusing to change.
Outlooks on the group's US operating companies remain negative, reflecting the legacy risks that continue to plague businesses.

Scandinavian subsidiaries have been placed under review, suggesting a possible upgrade in the near future.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
