Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) will shut eight offices between April and June 2003, resulting in 100 job losses.

Corporate Business Offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Inverness, Leicester, Newcastle, Plymouth and Southampton will close.

As many staff as possible will be deployed within R&SA, with voluntary redundancies being offered to those who cannot be re-placed.

Corporate business director Brendan McManus said the move would save money and improve speed and efficiency of underwriting and operations.
