Rubicon Corporation has won the Argos motor and household insurance account from Boncaster.

From 1 October all new motor insurance customers will have their cover placed through the Rubicon panel. The household launch is expected early 2005.

The policy will be designed for all motorists but specifically targeted towards women drivers. It will offer like-for-like courtesy cars at an additional premium.

Rubicon joint chief execuitve Bradley Brandon-Cross said: "This is the first time that a retail brand has driven its core values right through its financial services offering. The combination of our customer-centric approach and flexible technology platform means that Argos's customers can choose the best value cover for their needs from a range of options, and more importantly choose how they purchase and manage these products."

Argos Insurance Services general manager Sarah Harper said: "Retailing is a very dynamic environment where the customer is king.

"There is no reason why our customers cannot enjoy the same level of product innovation, value and choice with our financial services' products as they do in-store. With Rubicon's expertise and our bespoke solutions, that goal will be realised."
