A broker told Backchat of a claim involving a not-so Handy Andy. The intrepid carpenter had his own handsaw tailor-made by a blacksmith. He used it for three years without a hitch. But one day, the saw snagged - the blade flicked back and nicked his wrist, severing a ligament.
As a professional chippy it is a major risk in the job. But two years later he made a claim against the blacksmith. And the liability? The blacksmith should have given him instructions on how to use it.
