Rating agency Standard & Poor's has upgraded its ratings on German insurance giant Gerling.
The group said the change, from 'BB plus' to 'BBB minus' was essential to allow it to participate in the forthcoming industrial insurance renewal season.
The upgrade follows undertakings from German industrial firms to back a €62.5m (£44m) capital increase for the insurer.
