Law firm Ricksons has warned businesses that they must protect employees from the SARS virus.
Employment lawyer Chris Boyle said that employers have a duty of care to protect the health and wellbeing of employees.
"Employers who have made arrangements for employees to travel to Asia should rethink their decision. They should also recall any employees in that area."
Boyle said that once an employee returns from an infected area he or she should be made to stay at home for 10 days to see if symptoms develop.
