Scor, the French reinsurer, is selling Arizona-based Fulcrum Insurance.
It is thought Scor will put the money raised by the sale into its US reinsurance operations.
It is intending to sell Fulcrum to Texas-based Argonaut, once regulatory approval has been received.
Scor acquired Fulcrum in July 2001 when it bought Sorema.
