Beleaguered broker Marsh & McLennan (MMC) has become the subject of a second separate investigation.
MMC said the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched an investigation into transactions involving its directors.
The SEC had requested information about "related party actions" involving certain directors, officers or large investors, MMC said.
The company said the SEC had requested documents about transactions involving the Trident funds, which are managed by MMC Capital, Marsh's private equity firm.
The broker is already under scrutiny from New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer, who accuses it of bid-rigging and anti-competitive practices.
In response to the second investigation MMC said: "[Marsh] intends to co-operate fully in the investigation."
