The Fire Protection Association (FPA) has organised a seminar to inform architects of the measures they need to take to reduce fire risks in buildings.
The FPA said the seminar would concentrate on insurance and its relationship with design, as well as the need for architects and their advisers to satisfy insurers that their buildings are safe.
The FPA said a case held earlier this year, where architect Paskins Kryiakides Sands was held responsible for fire damage in a restaurant it had designed in 1994, had brought attention to this area of business. The ruling has left the firm with an insurance shortfall of around £20m.
Entitled "Fire and the Architect's Duty to Reduce the Risk," the event will take place on 11 November in London.
