Hastings have said that its group financial controller, Duncan Ayre, has passed away after a short period of illness.
Hastings said Ayre was fundamental to the transition of Hastings following the acquisition of Peoples Choice in 2003, where he held the position of finance director.
During his time with Hastings he was valued for his kindness and his calm, professional and dedicated manner.
Duncan was 42 years of age and is survived by his wife, Maeve, and two young children.
Hastings said "He will be sorely missed by all who knew him."
