The Queen was invited this week to St Katherine's Pier in London's Docklands to name the revolutionary 120ft carbon fibre catamaran Team Philips.

It is insured and sponsored by Sextant International, the yacht insurance agency backed by Brockbank Syndicate Management.

The giant catamaran, valued at £2.6m, reached 23 knots in light winds on her voyage from Totnes, Devon. Skipper Pete Goss and his crew will shortly begin a Jules Verne round-the-world record attempt.

The Queen was accompanied to the ceremony by her chaplain, Canon Lionel Webber (pictured) a keen sailing fan.
