Shadow Business Minister Umunna has urged insurers to act quickly to save businesses from going bust after the riots.
“Many of these small firms were already struggling. If their claims are not processed quickly, then they could go to the wall," he predicted.
The damage from the claims is predicted at anywhere between £200m and £300m, but it could go as high as £500m.
