Opens third office in region
AXA-owned broker Smart & Cook has opened its third Scottish office.
The new branch, in Dundee, is the 31st for Smart & Cook and will offer a broad spectrum of insurance products, from commercial to personal lines.
Branch director Tony Martin joins Smart & Cook from Marsh, where he was a Senior Vice President of their Commercial Client Practice responsible for regional operations in Scotland and the North of England.
He said: “I am very much looking forward to the challenges ahead. Smart & Cook is a very dynamic company, which, in just 17 years, has grown from a single site into one of the largest brokers in the UK. While other brokers have been withdrawing from Scotland, Smart & Cook has continued to support businesses and increased its presence north of the border.”
Smart & Cook opened its first Scottish office in Bellshill in September 2000, under the management of Colin Preston, now the company’s Regional Director for Scotland. He said: “The opening of a Dundee office is further testament to Smart & Cook’s commitment to a truly local service. Our Scottish offices are staffed by Scottish professionals, providing an invaluable insurance service to Scottish business, with its own particular needs and priorities.”
The Bellshill office now employs 30 people. Four years after its opening, a second Scottish office followed, at Pinkhill in Edinburgh. Initially home to just three staff, the Edinburgh office now employs 15 local professionals.
