Reading-based broker the Goss Group has merged with Guildford-based Pendleton May Group to create one of the largest brokers in the South-East.
Goss Group managing director Michael King said: "This is a strategic merger designed to increase market share, and will make the organisation one of the largest in the South of England and putting them in the top 25 intermediaries in the UK.
"With a general insurance turnover of over £35 million, financial services fee income in excess of £3m, and more than 200 employees, we are well placed for further expansion.
"Both organisations have built excellent reputations with their clients and suppliers over the past 80 years, and pooled knowledge and resources will strengthen our enlarged
group and enable us to maintain and improve the high level of client care currently provided."
The Pendleton May companies will continue to trade independently.
