Motor insurers should brace themselves for drivers having more points on their licences, according to Longford Insurance Schemes.

Longford director John Bull explained that recent proposals by the Commons Transport Select Committee will mean blanket coverage of UK roads by speed cameras and that means lots more people will be caught speeding.

"It is relatively easy for sensible drivers with years of experience to pick up points oin their licence," said Bull.

Longford runs a scheme called Chauffeurplan which picks up the tab for taxis or even a chauffeur should a client lose his or her licence.
