John Stalker, the former Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, is to address the UK's top public sector risk management experts at next week's ALARM conference in Manchester.
Stalker is to give a keynote speech at the 10thn annual ALARM conference and will share the experiences he has gained from his work in the police force.
He will look at the police force past, present and future in identifying risk both public and organisational, and examine the strengths and weaknesses of police risk managers from his perspectives as a senior police officer and since leaving the force, as a security consultant and crime journalist.
He will touch on risk aspects of events in which he was personally involved including major crimes, terrorist investigations and sudden disasters involving extreme loss of life.
ALARM chief executive Sheila Boyce said: "John is a particularly appropriate speaker for this conference, because as well as his association with Manchester he worked in the public sector for a long time and understands the various pressures and constraints out members work with. He also has experience with terrorist issues and this will be the basis of many discussions at the conference."
The conference will take place from 1 - 3 July.
