Standard Life is set to enter the medium sized corporate private medical insurance (PMI) market.

Standard Life will cover companies with staff of between 50 and 1000 employees under its Company Primecare and Primecare Plus plans.

The recent Laing & Buisson `Private Medical Insurance - UK Market Sector Report 2002', strengthened the company's decision.

The report revealed that six out of ten people are demanding healthcare cover from their employers.

Sales Manager Claire Ginnelly said: "Following valuable feedback from intermediaries who are demanding greater choice in the corporate market, we are now seeking business in this area.

"PMI is rated as an important benefit by 81% of people. Today's employers face may demands and being able to offer staff a PMI package that is cost-effective and with a trusted brand name, means there is one less thing to worry about."

Standard Life has assembled a dedicated customer care team to handle the product.
