Airline terror law
Changes to international law could lead to the aviation industry becoming liable for terrorist attacks.

Global Aerospace chief executive Tony Medniuk, said at the 2003 Airline Insurance Rendez-vous of the International Air Transport Association:

"The airlines should not be responsible for acts of terrorism against them."

A report by the Consumers' Association into trade bodies has revealed that some do not insist that their members have professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

Car cover by area
The cost of insuring your car varies by up to £330 depending on where you live in the UK. An AA study found the cost of car insurance varies across the country, ranging from a low of £235 in the Isle of Man up to £567 in Manchester.

The survey was based on the cost of insuring an average couple with clean licences driving a mid-range Ford Focus.

Costs judgment
Corporate policyholders may have their legal costs covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), after a High Court judgment last week. Geologistics, a company that held a compulsory insurance policy with Independent, brought the case to the High Court following the failure of Independent Insurance.

GAB Robins reports
Loss adjuster GAB Robins has posted better-than-expected growth levels for its liability division during 2002. The company said it achieved 15% growth against a target of 12% during 2002. Total annual income for liability in 2002 was in excess of £6.3m, against £5.4m in 2001,

ZM signs contracts
Zurich Municipal has signed contracts with two of the UK's largest housing associations. Social housing provider Glasgow Housing Association, and the new Bradford Community Housing Trust (BCHT) now employ Zurich.
