Broker network Cobra has recruited ten new members to increase its membership to 32 brokers. The ten new members are: Southern Insurance Services; Ashby Wray; Heath Insurance; Robert Edward (Southern); AIS (Insurance Brokers); Attwood & Hart; HE Howe (Southern); Insurace2day; Phoenix Insurance Consultants; and Tuley Hall.

Emergency tie-up
AXA Assistance has signed a three-year contract with BDML Connect to provide home emergency assistance to its policyholders.

Council deaths risk
Corporate manslaughter prosecutions against councils could soon become commonplace, predicted public sector risk management organisation, Alarm. It issued the warning after the first prosecution of a public body in a corporate manslaughter case in the UK. Alarm described the charges brought against Barrow Borough Council, over deaths caused by Legionnaire's disease, as a watershed, and a very stark warning message to the public sector.

FSA platform
The FSA said it has joined XBRL UK and will use the XBRL reporting language when it begins to collect regulatory data electronically in 2005.

Mediation extended
The FSA said it had extended the scope and availability of its mediation scheme. Only certain cases were eligible for mediation, said the FSA, but the new scheme is designed to encourage more individuals and firms to mediate when they are under investigation.
