City-based accountancy firm Macnair Mason has acquired the compliance consultancy business of Michael Bowmer.

Bowmer will continue to work with the new venture, called MMB Compliance Solutions Ltd, said Macnair Mason. Chris Keene, recently part of the FSA high street firms division policy team, is managing director.

Merger risk website
AIG's mergers and acquisitions division has launched a website designed as a resource for insurance brokers advising clients on transaction-based risks.

It said the site, AIGMergerRisks.com, contained deal summaries, information on transactional insurance trends and techniques as well as articles and commentary from third-party sources.

R&SA appointment
Royal & SunAlliance Insurance Group (R&SA) has appointed Zurich executive George Culmer as its new chief financial officer. Culmer, who was appointed head of capital management for Zurich Financial Services during 2003, will also become a main board director of R&SA.

Ecclesiastical Insurance has promoted Andrew Jones to the role of group reinsurance manager.

Shipping booms
The London P&I Club has said the increasing amount of new tonnage being ordered by its members and entered with the club for P&I and FD&D risks is confirmation of the healthy state of the shipping industry.

It said 25% of the vessels entered with the club during the past 12 months have been new builds, many entered by shipowners who had not previously bought new tonnage.

NIG engineering
NIG has launched engineering breakdown cover designed to eliminate gaps in insurance cover between property and engineering policies. The policy will be for the UK motor trade, retail and office sectors.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
