The insurer is looking at ways of improving the efficiency of hundreds of office buildings spread across the UK.

It has authorised a strategic review to be carried out by Deloitte & Touche.

The report, to be delivered later this year, could recommend outsourcing the management of buildings or transferring ownership of the portfolio to a specialist property company.
