Aon chairman Dennis Mahoney has been elected president of the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) and AXA Corporate Solutions chief executive Adrian Ballardie has been elected deputy president.

Both appointments will take effect at the institute's annual general meeting on 23 September 2002.

Argyll buys Pharon
Worthing-based Argyll Insurance Group has acquired Pharon Insurance Brokers. Pharon will continue to operate from its Kent office, with an unchanged team working under Ron Woodwood.

Ockham Holdings is changing its name to Highway Insurance Holdings.

The company has a new executive chairman in Ross Dunlop, previously non-executive deputy chairman and ex-National Parking Corporation.

School cover
HSBC Insurance Brokers has released a policy to insure parents who have children in fee-paying schools against redundancy and sickness.

The HSBC Redundancy Scheme, which is available through schools, covers the cost of fees for up to one year if the parent is made redundant, and up to three years in the case of disability. The premium is 1.8% of the school fee per term.

New liability insurer Professional Risks Insurance (PRI) has chosen Xchanging Ins-sure Services as its business partner in a five-year deal worth more than £10m.

Xchanging will find and fit out a new office in the City where PRI will be headquartered
