Rebus iS and Room Solutions have become the first IT providers to be linked to the Project Blue Mountain operating platform. Project Blue Mountain chief executive Ashok Gupta said the partnerships would enable many brokers and underwriters to gain the benefits of electronic data transfer.

Fusion capacity lift

Virtual insurer Fusion is doubling its capacity for next year. The Lloyd's coverholder and service company has capacity for gross written premiums of at least £100m. It is expected to write about £50m of gross written premium in 2002 through its five branch offices.

The estimated maximum loss capacity for each individual commercial property case will rise by 20% to £18m from £15m.

Aurora buyer name

Independent Insurance's run-off company Aurora Corporate Services is expected to announce the name of its buyer this week.

A spokeswoman for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Independent's liquidator, said PWC would not comment on speculation that

Capita and IBM were on the shortlist of buyers.

Drain firms contract

A consortium of drainage companies has been awarded a major contract by Halifax General Insurance Services (HGIS) to carry out claims work across the UK.

The contracts are to run for two years and will involve domestic claims, reporting and repair work on HGIS' instruction.

Stooke at Catlin

Lloyd's insurer Catlin has appointed Chris Stooke as chief financial officer of the Catlin group of companies.

Stooke will participate in the overall management of Catlin and act as chief financial officer for the Catlin group.

Chairman Stephen Catlin said: "We are very pleased to have secured the services of such an experienced and respected finance professional as Chris Stooke."
