Loss adjusters Crawford & Co said they had received substantial claims related to the storms in Northern England and Scotland, but it was "too early to provide an estimation of loss".
A spokeswoman said a combination of domestic and commercial claims had been received at the company's offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds and Belfast.
