A 12.5% increase in advance call rates for the 2003/2004 policy year has been announced by the Strike Club, the marine mutual insurer. This increase is before adjustment for individual claims experience.

The Strike Club provides cover for ships¹ costs arising from delay and disruption.

The club said that 2002 had shown lower claims than in previous years. But it warned that the frequency and unpredictability had not diminished, and that more strikes could take place during the winter months.
